1. Your gift goes to the masjid
When you donate in the MasjidNow app, Stripe processes the payment and pays it into the masjid’s own Stripe account. The gift is between you and the masjid. MasjidNow is not the charity, does not hold the money and takes no cut of the donation. Stripe’s processing fees apply and are shown before you pay.
2. Receipts
After each gift, you can get a PDF receipt in the app. The receipt records the amount, date and masjid. Whether a gift is tax deductible depends on the masjid’s status and on your local law. Ask the masjid or a tax adviser if you are unsure.
3. Recurring gifts
You can set up a recurring gift in the app and stop it at any time in the app. Stopping prevents future charges. It does not cancel gifts that have already been made.
4. Asking for a refund
Send refund requests to the masjid you gave to, because the masjid holds the funds and decides on refunds. Most masjids list a contact in the app. If you cannot reach them, email support@masjidnow.org and we will pass your request on.
5. Gifts made by mistake
If you gave the wrong amount or were charged twice, email support@masjidnow.org within 14 days of the gift with the receipt and the date. We will contact the masjid for you. The masjid makes the final call, and Stripe may keep its processing fee on a refund.
6. Zakat and gifts already spent
Once a masjid has paid out Zakat or another designated gift to the people it is meant for, it usually cannot take the money back. Check the amount and the fund before you confirm.
