1. Who this covers
This policy covers the MasjidNow app, the AdhanNow app and the website at masjidnow.org. Nexus Gather LLC, which operates MasjidNow, is the controller of the personal data described here, except donation payment details, which Stripe handles for the masjid you give to. Questions go to support@masjidnow.org.
2. What we collect
Website contact form: your name, email address, optional masjid name, topic and message. We use them to answer you.
App account: your email address or phone number and the name you give us, so you can sign in and follow masjids.
Location: your device location, if you allow it, to find nearby masjids, calculate prayer times and point the Qibla compass. You can turn location off in your phone settings and search for a masjid by name instead.
Device tokens: an identifier from Apple (APNs) or Google (FCM) so we can send the reminders and masjid announcements you turn on.
Your choices in the app: your default masjid, followed masjids, reminder and quiet hours settings, and event RSVPs.
Donations: the amount, date, masjid and receipt for each gift. Card and bank details go straight to Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
3. How we use it
- To show you your masjid’s iqama and Jummah times.
- To send the reminders, announcements and event notices you ask for.
- To process donations and produce receipts.
- To reply to your messages and fix problems.
- To protect the service from abuse, for example by limiting how often the contact form can be submitted.
We do not sell your personal data and we do not show third-party ads.
4. Who processes your data
We use these providers to run the service: Google Firebase and Google Cloud (account sign-in, database, storage and push delivery), Apple and Google (app stores and push notifications), Stripe (donations and masjid subscriptions) and Cloudflare (hosting and security for this website). Each handles data under its own terms and privacy policy.
A masjid can see the donations made to it and the messages sent to it through the app. That is how a masjid thanks donors, sends receipts and answers questions.
5. How long we keep it
We keep account data while your account is open. Contact form messages are kept for as long as needed to answer you and keep a record of the conversation. Donation records may be kept longer where tax, accounting or payment rules require it. When you delete your account, we remove your account data, apart from records we must keep by law.
6. Your rights and choices
You can see and change your details in the app. You can delete your account in the app under Settings, then Delete Account. You can also email support@masjidnow.org to ask for a copy of your data, a correction or a deletion.
If you live in California, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to delete it, to correct it, and to not be discriminated against for using these rights. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context advertising. If you live elsewhere, including the EU or UK, you may have similar rights under local law, and you can use them by emailing us. We will answer within 45 days.
7. Children
MasjidNow is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you think a child has given us data, email us and we will delete it.
8. Security
We use encrypted connections, access rules on our database and a payment provider that is PCI compliant. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise that data can never be accessed without permission.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and tell app users in the app. Using MasjidNow after a change means you accept the new version.
